Awkward corners and limited space are part and parcel of apartment living. But with some thought and craftsmanship, we created a multi-functional playstation for Chiciolina the shihtzu, our very first dog client.
Maximising function within a tiny space is our top priority in this project. Chiciolina distrusts the outdoors and getting her out was always a challenge. So the owner wanted some exercise element in the station. A resting platform and house are a must for dogs, and compartmentalised storage of treats, medicines, towels, accessories etc is a bonus.
Our two-box modular design took care of the wish list. Pretty impressive we thought. So we have:
- A dog station in two separate units that sit in an awkward corner and yet combine to create a continuous playstation
- A drawer for medicines, another for toys and treats
- A towel rack for all her favourite blankies
- Space to place the food dispenser
- Hidden steps for her to climb
- A resting platform to watch her owner at work
- A dog house with a lid that opens up for easy cleaning

On top of that, it is compact, with a footprint of only 110 cm x 55 cm at the widest. Birch ply in natural finishing was our choice of material. This allows us to create a neutral, light-coloured station that fits in the owner's room. And here's a video of Chiciolina trying out her playstation!
